Watch My Closing Remarks From Tuesday's Town Hall

On Tuesday night, the candidates for Talbot County Council shared the stage at the Avalon Theatre for the Avalon-Spy town hall. It was a good, respectful discussion about the issues that matter most: taxes, growth, permitting, and how county government spends your money.

Each candidate got two minutes for a closing statement. I used mine to talk about leading by example.

Locally, I've helped continue our late friend Scotty's work through Easton Rotary with Drop for Scotty (the food drive that serves this community around Thanksgiving), and Operation Christmas Spirit, where we feed hundreds of people on Christmas Day and give them jackets to stay warm through the winter. On the St. Mark's UMC missions committee, we helped fund many community charities and even approved a 1 million dollar allocation toward the new hospital.

As Town Council President, I voted to keep the Neighborhood Service Center's energy assistance program afloat when state funds were slow to arrive, and we kept taxes flat while maintaining services. And after Hurricane Helene, I helped get relief to families in North Carolina and an all-terrain vehicle to the Double Island Volunteer Fire Department for search and rescue missions.

That is the standard I will bring to the county council: find the problem, fix it, finish the job. Tuesday night I humbly asked for one of your five votes, and I am asking again today.

With absentee ballots already in mailboxes and early voting opening October 22, this election is already underway. There are two ways you can help right now:

1. Volunteer. We need hands for door knocking, yard sign placement, and office help in these final weeks. Sign up at https://www.frankgunsallus.com/volunteer/ and our team will get you plugged in.

2. Donate. Every dollar goes straight to voter contact. Any amount from 5 dollars to 1,000 dollars can be given in just a few clicks at https://www.frankgunsallus.com/donate/.

Thank you for standing with me. Let's finish strong together.

Frank
